An important breakthrough in the fight against livestock theft this week has brought new hope to farmers, farm workers and the broader agricultural community in the Aberdeen area.
During a joint operation, ten suspects were arrested after being found in possession of suspected stolen livestock valued at approximately R25 000. This success sends a strong message that livestock thieves are not invincible, and that concerted collaboration between law enforcement and the community delivers results.
The Aberdeen police deserve special praise for their rapid response and professional conduct. SMHart Security Aberdeen’s vigilance and close cooperation also played a key role.
For years, the area’s agricultural community has been plagued by persistent livestock theft and other forms of rural crime. This not only causes major financial losses, but also undermines people’s sense of safety and security.
This successful operation, however, demonstrates what is possible when the police, security companies, farmers and communities work together.
The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) commends all the role players who contributed to the breakthrough and encourages the police, security services and the community to continue with proactive crime prevention to make rural areas safer.
