Lt General Mkhwanazi Allegations Stalled by Procedural Chaos

7 October 2025 by Guest

Dear Editor

The Democratic Alliance (DA) notes with concern that the Ad Hoc Committee established to investigate Lt General Mkhwanazi’s serious allegations began its work today only to be immediately hampered by unnecessary delays and administrative confusion.

It is deeply frustrating that basic procedural matters, which should have been resolved before the committee convened, are only now being addressed. These preventable delays waste valuable time and raise serious questions about Parliament’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

Every hiccup in this process further damages Parliament’s credibility. South Africans are watching, expecting decisive action and integrity from their elected representatives, not inefficiency and internal disorder.

The mismanagement of this committee undermines not only its mandate but also public confidence in Parliament as an institution. When addressing matters of national importance, particularly those concerning the security, integrity, and stability of the state, Parliament must operate with competence, transparency, and urgency.

The DA calls for the immediate resolution of all outstanding administrative and procedural issues so the committee can proceed efficiently, transparently, and without further delay.

The public deserves nothing less than a Parliament that takes its oversight role seriously and acts with the professionalism and urgency that accountability demands.

Regards

Ian Cameron MP
DA Deputy Spokesperson on Police
