MATH Restaurant invites guests to the latest edition of the MATH Wine Club, taking place on Thursday, 30 July at Waterfall Corner. This month’s experience brings together one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine estates, Thelema Wines, with a thoughtfully curated four-course dining experience by resident chef Eric Mphela.

Perched on the upper slopes of the Helshoogte Pass in Stellenbosch, Thelema Wines has built an international reputation for producing elegant, expressive wines, particularly its acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon. Family-owned since 1983, the estate has become synonymous with consistency, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the land.

Guests can expect an intimate evening where each course is expertly paired with a selection of Thelema wines, offering an immersive journey through the estate’s celebrated portfolio. Designed to encourage discovery and conversation, the MATH Wine Club has become a monthly gathering for wine enthusiasts, creatives, and curious diners seeking memorable culinary experiences.

The event also marks the return of Chef Eric Mphela following the overwhelming success of his recent winter residency at MATH. His limited-run pop-up drew enthusiastic praise from diners, making his return for this edition of the Wine Club a natural next chapter.

“At MATH, we’ve always believed that great hospitality is about bringing people together around meaningful experiences. The Wine Club was created to make wine more approachable while celebrating the incredible producers we have in South Africa. Partnering with Thelema allows us to share one of the country’s most respected wine stories with our community in a way that feels intimate, welcoming, and memorable,” says Puleng Mathabatha, Founder of MATH Restaurant.

Chef Eric Mphela has crafted a menu that celebrates the character of each wine while showcasing the bold, ingredient-led cooking that has become synonymous with his culinary style.

“When pairing food with wine, my goal is never to compete with what’s in the glass, but to complement it. Every dish has been designed to bring out the unique personality of each wine while creating a dining experience that feels balanced, exciting, and deeply satisfying. I’m excited to return to MATH and continue sharing this journey with guests,” says Chef Eric Mphela.

Since its inception, the MATH Wine Club has established itself as more than a wine tasting. It is a community-driven dining experience where exceptional food, celebrated wines, and meaningful conversation come together around one table.

The MATH Wine Club featuring Thelema Wines takes place on Thursday, 30 July, with arrivals from 18:00 for an 18:30 seating at MATH Restaurant, Waterfall Corner.

The three main elements of Public Relations are practically as old as society: informing people, persuading people, or integrating people with people. Of course, the means and methods of accomplishing these ends have changed as society has changed. – Edward Bernays
