Matlosana by-elections builds momentum towards rescuing South Africa in 2024

The DA in North West is ecstatic with the results in the Matlosana Wards 16 and 17 by-elections held yesterday. Residents in these two wards have expressed confidence in the DA’s mission to rescue South Africa to rebuild what the ANC has destroyed through its decades-long failed governance.

In Ward 17, the DA grew its support from 61.73% in 2021 to 69.95%. In Ward 16, DA support grew from 65.24% in 2021 to 67.11% yesterday.

These encouraging by-election results show that popular support for the DA’s mission to bring the ANC below 50% nationally in next year’s general election has gained momentum. We are today a step closer to achieving our objective of removing the ANC from government and leading a multi-party government that will usher in a new era of accountable and responsive governance that works for all citizens.

The DA would like to thank every DA voter who came out to reaffirm their confidence in our project to rebuild what the ANC has destroyed. We truly appreciate every single DA vote.

We congratulate Ward Councillors-elect, Jacky Basson in Ward 16, and Gerhard Strydom in Ward 17, on their victory. We are confident that they will diligently represent the interests of residents in the Matlosana Council and continue to fight for improved service delivery and accountable governance.

We also acknowledge the dedication and commitment of all DA public representatives, staff, and activists for the support they extended to ensure success in these Matlosana by-elections.

As we celebrate our victory today, we move closer to building a municipality, a province, and a country that works for all citizens.
