Media Statement: Embrace Our Collective Heritage, Committee Chair | SA News

Parliament, Tuesday, 23 September 2025 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr Joe McGluwa, has called on South Africans never to compromise on things that make them South African.

Mr McGluwa made this call while he attended a Heritage Day cultural event in Oudtshoorn, in the Western Cape today where he said people must think about their past and future. “We are happy that our heritage is preserved, but people must share the values and traditions and respect them as a society. Our heritage must remain the pinnacle of our being; it must give us a collective identity and a sense of belonging,” he said.
