In response to pressure from the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus), the Mogale City Local Municipality (Krugersdorp, Magaliesburg, Muldersdrift) has stopped sending out its monthly SMS notifications to residents after they received incorrect utility bills.

The SMS notifications do not reflect payments made at the end of September and incorrectly indicate them as overdue.

Concerned residents have, consequently, inundated the Freedom Front Plus with complaints about the exorbitant amounts they supposedly owe.

The Freedom Front Plus approached the Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Victor Molefe, on Thursday and pointed out the error in the Municipality’s billing system.

The party also insisted that interest charged on the so-called overdue amounts be corrected.

Mr. Molefe has undertaken to ensure that the Municipality will not send out any more SMS notifications before the error is rectified.

The Freedom Front Plus will keep a close eye on the correction of bills, and hold the Municipality accountable to ensure that every resident’s right to accurate and transparent billing is protected.

Freedom Front Plus Social Welfare: The party supports social welfare programs that benefit vulnerable communities.
