Mooney Toppled After 26-Month Reign at the Top

31 March 2026 by Guest

Georgia Voll advanced eight slots to unseat fellow Australian Beth Mooney from the number one ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings position after scoring a maiden T20I century in the third and final match against the West Indies to set up her side’s 3-0 series sweep.

Voll’s innings pushed her over the 800-ratings points barrier to a career-best 815 and first-ever position at the top of the batting rankings as Australia won the rain affected match by 40 runs via the DLS method.

Mooney’s reign, which began in January 2024 when she took over from Tahlia McGrath, ended when Voll smashed a 52-ball century in their whitewash against the hosts at Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. A tidy result with just 72 days until the opening match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales.

New Zealand skipper Amelia Kerr’s blazing hot all-round form continued in their home series against South Africa. She becomes the fourth New Zealander to top the women’s all-rounders’ list after Rebecca Steele, Aimee Watkins and Sophie Devine.

Kerr dethroned the West Indies captain Hayley Matthews from the top of the list following her score of 105 and two wickets for just six runs in the final T20I in Christchurch in their 95-run victory against the visitors. She also moved to sixth in the batters’ list and 10th in the bowlers’ list. Matthews had a firm hold on the number one all-rounder’s position since October 2023 when she first took over from Ash Gardner.

There were also movements in the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, following the first ODI between the White Ferns and the Proteas in Christchurch.

Maddie Green jumped four slots to 13th in the batters’ list after scoring 85 runs in her team’s losing endeavor. They lost to the tourists in a final-ball thriller that saw South Africa’s debutant, Kayla Reyneke, hit a six to drag her team to a two-wicket victory in the end.

South Africa’s Annerie Dercksen’s 93-ball 72 saw her race nine slots to 42nd among the batters, while her teammate, Ayabonga Kakha’s career-best ODI haul of six for 56 saw her climb three places to 17th among the bowlers.

Amelia and her sister Jessica Kerr took two wickets each in the first match, seeing the former move two places to ninth, while the latter remained steady in 13th place.

In St. Kitts and Nevis, Australia have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in their three-match series against the West Indies, beating the hosts by 103 and 90 runs respectively in their first two encounters.

Though the team results were bleak, West Indies’ Stefanie Taylor’s unbeaten century (105 off 129 balls) gave her team reason to celebrate as she leaped 10 slots to 28th in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings.

Alana King’s bowling figures of naught for 42 and one for 45 in the matches saw her slip to second place, with England’s Sophie Ecclestone returning to the top position in the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings. She has an opportunity to regain her place as she is just four rating points shy of Ecclestone’s 747.

Finally, Australia’s Georgia Wareham advanced eight places to 16th in the all-rounders’ list after totalling 81 runs and four wickets in the first two ODIs against the West Indies.
