Dr Deborah Robertson-Anderson, NSRI Kei Mouth deputy station commander, said: At 14h19, Thursday, 18 September, NSRI Kei Mouth duty crew and NSRI Kei Mouth lifeguards were activated following reports of an Eastern Cape adult man, believed to be aged in his 20’s, suspected to be missing in the surf at Morgan Bay Beach.
NSRI crew and NSRI lifeguards responded to the scene and the SA Police Services were alerted.
The man’s clothing had been found on the beach where he was last seen swimming in the surf-zone but he had not returned.
An extensive sea and shoreline search has revealed no signs of the man who is suspected to be missing in the surf.
Police Search and Rescue (WPDS – Water Policing and Diving Services) attended at the scene conducting ongoing search efforts.
Police have opened an investigation.
