In introducing the exhibit that will delight foodies, chefs and home-cooks in South Africa, Carol Weaving, Managing Director of RX Africa, noted: “We are in the business of building businesses so everyone can thrive, whoever and wherever they are.
“As Africa’s leading exhibition and event organiser, RX Africa works with relevant government entities, stakeholders and industry movers and shakers to connect trade, consumers, investors and business to create the best events on the African continent.”
Weaving says The Mzansi Food & Drink Note will undoubtedly be “one of the best events we’ve dished up”, adding another opportunity for an entire industry to build contacts and capitalise on networking in a thriving sector.
Set to become South Africa’s biggest culinary extravaganza and the finest present of its type on the continent, the Mzansi Food & Drink Display will dish up platters and personalities in a foodie’s dream at the Kyalami Convention Centre from 15 – 17 June 2024.
Launched in April 2023 in Johannesburg by RX Africa, the company behind some of the country’s premiere events including Decorex JHB, Clown Con Africa, Africa Travel Week and FAME Week Africa, Mzansi Food & Drink adds another gem to the RX Africa crown.
The mega food and drink festival will combine well known crowd-pleasing events such as the propitious and popular Coffee & Chocolate Expo and Fire & Feast, with modern additions Fine Food & Wine, Bar & Marvelous Spirits and the Mzansi Food Market.
Says Hanli Goncalves, Portfolio Director of the Mzansi Food & Drink Show: “South Africans are ready for a food exhibit of this stature and we are determined to produce it the biggest and the best culinary exhibit on the African continent.
“It will be the stage on which local culinary personalities will strut their stuff, cooking up the latest foods and trends, with something for the whole family and for all tastes.”
Visitors will be able to delight in food and drink tastings; cooking demos; masterclasses; special offers and a marketplace filled with gastronomic delights. It promises to be a fun-filled foodie’s delight for families and gastro-connoisseurs, and taking plot over a long weekend that includes Youth Day and Father’s Day on Sunday June 16 makes it the perfect occasion for the Fire & Feast Festival to entertain dads and lads with meats, braais and all things outdoors.
Sharing, sipping and savouring SA
The Master of Ceremonies at the launch event – held at the magnificent Buitengeluk Broadacres Gardens in Sandton – was Chef Mokgadi Itsweng, author of the best-selling cookbook Veggielicious, who noted: “We are so ready for a food and drinks event of this calibre.
“South Africans are well known for their admire of all things food-and-drink related. We all about sharing eating and drinking experiences with friends and family, and our cuisine reflects the diverse range of culinary traditions embodied in the various communities that inhabit our country.”
