National Day of Action Against Ongoing Water Crisis

Tomorrow, 11 March 2026, the Democratic Alliance (DA) will embark on a National Day of Action against the ANC’s Water Crisis, highlighting the devastating impact of years of ANC mismanagement, corruption, and governance failures on South Africa’s water infrastructure.

DA leaders, public representatives, and activists will host events across the country to stand up against this crisis, fight for communities, and outline the solutions to secure reliable and sustainable water supply for residents who continue to suffer under failing ANC-run municipalities.

Gauteng

DA leaders and activists will conduct multiple oversight visits and pickets highlighting the ongoing water crisis affecting communities across the province.

Eastern Cape

DA Nelson Mandela Bay Mayoral Candidate, Retief Odendaal MPL, will address the need for a sustainable and reliable water supply in the metro, which continues to face persistent water shortages.

Odendaal will be joined by DA Eastern Cape Provincial Chairperson, Yusuf Cassim MPL.

Mpumalanga

The DA will lead a water march in Govan Mbeki. Communities in Secunda and Bethal have been severely affected by ongoing water outages caused by the municipality’s failure to pay its escalating debt to Rand Water, resulting in water throttling and supply disruptions.

DA Limpopo Provincial Leader Lindy Wilson will hold a protest with residents as part of the National Day of Action, highlighting the ongoing water crisis affecting communities.
