NEV Sales up 77.1%

13 October 2025 by Guest

The Chery Group has reported sales figures for September and the first three quarters of the year, with 280,469 vehicles sold last month, representing a 14.7% year-on-year increase. Sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) totalled 91,590 units for the same period, reflecting a 55.4% growth from September 2024.

Overseas sales reached 137,624 units, representing a 26.2% year-over-year increase. This marks the fifth consecutive month that Chery’s exports have exceeded 100,000 units, reinforcing its position as China’s leading automobile exporter.

During the first three quarters of 2025, Chery Group achieved breakthroughs across five key areas: sales volume, new energy vehicles exports, brand development, and capital markets. Sales volume reached new heights, with the automaker selling 2,007,768 vehicles during the period, representing a 14.5% growth. This achievement marks the fastest pace in Chery’s history to cross the two-million-vehicle sales threshold.

Second, NEV sales surged, with Chery delivering 587,545 new energy vehicles during this period, representing a 77.1% increase compared to the same timeframe last year. This exceptional growth rate positions the brand among the industry’s top performers and confirms its place among China’s top five NEV manufacturers.

More than 75% of the Group’s newly launched models during this period were new energy vehicles, including the Tiggo 7 CSH, Tiggo 8 CSH, and Tiggo 9 CSH. In South Africa, these models have contributed to strong sales; in August, the automaker was one of the strongest-selling NEV brands in the country, with 227 units sold during that period.

Third, European expansion gained momentum. In the first three quarters, Chery exported 936,428 vehicles, representing a 12.9% year-on-year increase. That’s the equivalent of one Chery vehicle being shipped overseas every 25 seconds. While it maintained its position as China’s top automobile exporter, the company has shifted its focus to upmarket international operations. During January to September, Chery sold 145,000 vehicles in Europe, more than doubling its sales compared to the same period last year.

Global brand recognition has also grown. The Chery Group climbed to 233rd place on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list, making it the fastest-rising automaker worldwide. It also retained its leading position among automobile brands in the Kantar BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders report, co-released with Google.

A further breakthrough took place in the capital markets. On the 25th of September, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. was officially listed on HKEX’s Main Board. The listing marked the largest automotive IPO in Hong Kong in 2025, opening a new chapter in Chery’s global capital market strategy. As of the end of September, Chery Group had served over 17.72 million users worldwide, including more than 5.43 million overseas users.

“Chery’s continued global momentum, particularly in the NEV space, reflects the brand’s strong commitment to innovation, quality and customer satisfaction,” commented Jay Jay Botes, General Manager for the Chery brand. “Here, in South Africa, we’re proud to see our market contributing to this upward trajectory, especially as local interest in NEVs grows steadily. The success of models like the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH is a clear indication that local consumers are ready for intelligent, future-facing mobility solutions.”
