The Disciplinary process related to James Fender Red Card in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship Round 9 game against Cardiff on Wednesday, January 1 has resulted in a one game suspension.
After an act of foul play by Ospreys player No 5 (James Fender), referee Ben Breakspear showed the Player a Red Card in the 38th minute of the game under Law 9.20d – A Player may remove the jackler from the tackle area by pushing/driving them backwards (including by grabbing the knee/leg), but must not, roll, pull or twist an opponent.
In the Player’s responses to the Judicial Officer overseeing the disciplinary process (Achille Reali, Italy), he had accepted that he had committed an act of foul play which warranted a Red Card. Mr. Reali found that the incident met the Red Card threshold, with entry of low-range warranting two weeks. The Player received one week mitigation due to his apology, good record and full engaged participation throughout the disciplinary process which results in a one game suspension.
Fixtures James Fender is unavailable for Cardiff v Swansea, 4 January 2025, SRC Trophy
