One More Record Breaking Year

8 December 2025 by Guest

It’s exactly one year since Chery South Africa celebrated its best ever sales performance, with just over 2 000 units sold. Twelve months on, and the brand has delivered another a record-breaking feat, with November 2025 seeing 2 506 units sold and Chery South Africa securing its position as the 7th best-selling passenger vehicle brand in the country.

These sales were achieved against the backdrop of a strengthening new-vehicle market, with NAAMSA reporting that over 54 000 new vehicles were sold in November.

Adding to these accolades, the Chery TIGGO 4 Pro once again claimed the number one spot in SUV sales. This position has been boosted by the growing love for the Hybrid version of the model, part of the broader CSH line, which has consistently ranked near the top of the PHEV SUV segment for six months running.

“These outstanding results and our 2 500 record sales confirm that Chery is becoming a brand South Africans love and believe in,” says Jay Jay Botes, General Manager of Chery South Africa. “This is only the beginning – we’re building something extraordinary together”.

Sales of this magnitude are a remarkable achievement for a brand that only entered the competitive SUV segment at the end of 2021, with the launch of the Tiggo 4 Pro. Within 18 months, Chery SA had already sold over 20 000 vehicles, with the brand doubling its annual South African sales between 2022 and 2023. 2024 once again saw record sales achieved, and in 2025, the brand added plug-in hybrids to their already extensive range, with the introduction of Chery Super Hybrid PHEV versions of the Chery Tiggo 7, 8 and 9, as well as a hybrid‑electric Tiggo Cross. 2025 also saw Chery achieve a major global milestone, reaching the target of five million vehicles exported worldwide.

With a network of over 80 dealerships nationwide and an expanding range of SUVs and hybrid models, Chery South Africa is set to maintain its record-breaking momentum into 2026. This includes significantly broadening its local lineup, introducing its first fully electric vehicles, and making its debut into the competitive bakkie segment.
