Over 1 Million Apply for Tickets to SA Event

6 October 2026 by Guest

The excitement for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 is building at extraordinary pace, with ticket ballot applications surpassing one million in less than three days of registrations launching on 1 October 2026.

As of today, over 320,000 fans have already registered for the ticket ballot, with applications for more than 1.1 million tickets submitted for matches across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan fixture is leading the demand, with more than 110,000 ticket applications already received. South Africa vs India follows with more than 92,000, while India vs Australia has attracted more than 86,000 applications.

The pre-seeded Super 7 fixture between India (A1) and Pakistan (A3) on 7 November is the fourth most in-demand match, with almost 78,000 applications, while the 21 November Final has already attracted almost 69,000 applications.

ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta said: “One million ticket applications in just over 48 hours of opening the ticket ballot is a demonstration of the attention, stature and affiliation for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. ICC events are now spectacles which transcend cultural and geographic boundaries and serve as platforms to widen and deepen fandom for the sport.

“This is also Africa’s moment to shine as an ICC marquee men’s event is returning to the continent after two decades and brings with it the attention of 2.5 billion cricket fans across 120+ countries. We aim to ‘make the circle bigger’, for fans, for the athletes, for the game, and for communities who will gather to celebrate the competition and the culture. The ballot is open, and we can’t wait to host the world so get in if you haven’t already.”

ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 Local Organising Committee CEO, Qondisa Ngwenya, said: “To see more than one million tickets already applied for is a major statement by global fans and shows the extraordinary appetite to be part of this tournament.

“South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia are ready to open their doors to the world and deliver a World Cup that is memorable both on and off the field. This is an opportunity to bring new audiences into the game and showcase the passion, diversity and hospitality of our region to a global audience. We cannot wait to welcome fans from across Africa and around the world to experience a World Cup like it has never been seen before with us.”

The ticket ballot remains open until 23h59 (CAT) on 21 November, giving fans around the world the opportunity to register for tickets to Africa’s biggest cricket spectacle.

How the ballot works:

  • Entry into the ticket ballot is free and does not require payment at the point of registration.
  • Fans can submit one ballot entry per person, per match, and may enter the ballot for multiple matches across the tournament.
  • The ballot is not first-come, first-served, meaning fans have the opportunity to enter at any point during the ballot window without their chances being determined by how early they register.
  • Where demand for a fixture exceeds the available ticket allocation, access to purchase tickets will be determined through a randomised ballot process. Successful applicants will be contacted by email with information on how to access the ticket purchasing process.
  • Successful and unsuccessful ballot applications will be communicated via the email address that customers share during ballot registration.

Fans must note: No tickets are purchased or paid for during the ballot process.

Sachin Tendulkar played for Pakistan before India – Can you imagine Sachin Tendulkar playing for Pakistan before India? This happened during a practice match between India and Pakistan at the Brabourne Stadium in 1987 where Tendulkar came on the field as a substitute fielder for Pakistan.
