Durban – Hollywoodbets Dolphins all-rounder Bryce Parsons produced a match-winning display at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Wednesday night to guide his Pretoria Capitals team into the Betway SA20 final this Sunday.

Parsons shone with both the bat and the ball as his contributions, along with a devastating 75 not out off 38 balls from Dewald Brevis, helped the team from the capital city book their spot in a second SA20 final with a seven wicket win over two-time champions the Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

The left-handed Parsons made critical contributions with both the bat and the ball. He snagged 3 for 10 with the ball in three overs and then scored an impressive 60 from 44 deliveries as he and Brevis combined for a match-winning partnership of 91 off ten overs.

Parsons’ three overs were gold for the Capitals, and he picked up the crucial wicket of Jordan Hermann for 41. He then added the wickets of Chris Green and Matthew Breetzke late in the innings to halt any momentum that the Sunrisers were trying to build in the latter overs of the innings.

Capitals captain Keshav Maharaj has been their stand-out bowler in the tournament. The left-arm spinner took 2 for 24 on Wednesday night but has picked up 11 wickets through the competition at very tidy economy rate of 6.62 runs to the over.
The Dolphins still have a number of players left in the tournament with the likes of Anrich Nortje heading to the Eliminator with the Sunrisers.

One of the stand-out players in the competition so far has been Ottniel Baartman. The Dolphins seamer, who is in the pink of the Paarl Royals this season, currently sits top of the wicket-takers list with 17 scalps.

Nortje is just two wickets behind Baartman with 15 wickets so far in the tournament.

Another young Dolphins seamer that has been in great form is Nqobani Mokoena. The 19 year-old, who is playing for the Paarl Royals, is currently the competition’s fifth highest wicket taker with 12 wickets from his eight matches and he has been arguably the find of the tournament.

The Royals will also be sweating over the fitness of captain Dave Miller who picked up a groin injury in their loss to the Joburg Super Kings recently and they will be hoping to have their talismanic skipper available for their Eliminator on Thursday.

Other Dolphins players that have impressed in the competition are the likes of Jason Smith who has also been amongst the runs for MI Cape Town and has a top score of 41 so far while Marques Ackerman was a bit of a revelation for Durban’s Super Giants and in the two matches that he has played he’s scored 72 runs with a top score of 45 and a strike rate of just under 170.

Prenelan Subrayen will be in action for Joburg Super Kings in their clash with the Paarl Royals and he will be hoping to add to his tally of six wickets in the competition so far. His best figures are 3/14 this season.
Eathan Bosch contributed seven wickets to Durban’s Super Giants campaign with best figures of 4 for 46 coming against MI Cape Town in the competition opener.

Late-comer to the competition Leus du Plooy played a crucial role in the Joburg Super Kings qualifying for the play-offs after his 54 not out against the Paarl Royals.

There were a number of other Dolphins players in the various squads with Andile Simelane in the DSG squad, Okuhle Cele in the Paarl Royals squad and Tristan Luus in the MI Cape Town squad.

There has been a strong KZN Cricket flavour to the backroom staff with Lance Klusener and Rivash Gobind at the helm of Durban’s Super Giants while Shaun Pollock and Dale Benkenstein have helped guide the Capitals to their first final since season one.

Australia has produced many rugby legends, including David Campese, John Eales, and George Gregan. Campese, a prolific try-scorer and skilful winger, held the record for the most tries scored in test matches for Australia (64) until it was surpassed by Adam Ashley-Cooper in 2019. John Eales, known as “Nobody,” is a revered Wallabies captain who led the team to their second Rugby World Cup victory in 1999. George Gregan, a scrum-half, holds the record for the most appearances for the Wallabies with 139 caps.

Chris Martin and B.S Chandrasekhar have taken more Test wickets in their career than the test runs they scored.
