Peter Teixeira – Midvaal Mayoral Candidate

13 March 2026 by Guest

Statement by Solly Msimanga MPL – DA Gauteng Leader:

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has announced Peter Teixeira as our Mayoral Candidate for Midvaal Local Municipality.

Midvaal is a shining beacon of governance excellence. 12 consecutive clean audits, the most financially sustainable municipality in the country and by far the best run municipality in Gauteng.

Peter currently serves as Midvaal’s Executive Mayor, and his reputation speaks for itself. From investing in his municipality’s youth with initiatives like the Mayoral Student Financial Aid Scheme, to creating safe and inviting public spaces for the people of Midvaal to enjoy. He embodies DA good governance and excellence.

It only makes sense that he is the one to take this mission forward.

While other municipalities in Gauteng lag behind, shrink economically, and move from leak to leak, Midvaal secures multi-billion-rand investments through partnerships with businesses like Soufflet Malt, and develops water infrastructure for the future.

Driving into Midvaal is a breath of fresh air – neat parks for people to enjoy, solar powered LED-streetlight lit roads, and roads that are drivable. These are the basics, but these things are also the underpinnings of what good governance looks and feels like.

Peter carries the full support of his region, province and party. We look forward to the Local Government Election, and increasing the DA-majority in Midvaal. We will keep Midvaal working.

May this be a reminder to all of Gauteng’s voters – DA governments deliver.
