On 31 August 2026, television channel Moja Love recorded a political debate through a segment called Lentswe La Hao in Orlando East, Soweto, hosted by Nimrod Nkosi.

The participants included Ayanda Allie of ActionSA, Helen Zille of the Democratic Alliance, Mlungisi Mabaso of the Inkatha Freedom Party, Andile Chalwe of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party, and Solly Mkhize of the Patriotic Alliance.

The recording lasted almost four hours, during which tensions escalated among the panelists and members of the audience. As tempers flared, Helen Zille directed profane language at Andile Chalwe during an exchange witnessed by Ayanda Allie.

When the issue was raised with the host, Zille admitted to using vulgar language in response to Chalwe’s remarks.

Despite an undertaking by Moja Love that the two-part debate would be aired in September 2026, the recording has not been broadcast. Moja Love has reportedly indicated that its decision not to flight the episodes was due to its failure to obtain signed release forms from the panelists.

However, the participating parties maintain that the forms were signed and have called for clarity regarding the decision not to air the programs.

ActionSA and the MKP jointly call on Moja Love to broadcast both recorded episodes in full by the 15th of October 2026, in accordance with the channel’s undertaking and the parties’ understanding. The parties further request that the broadcast include the relevant exchange and the explanation provided during the program.

The recording of the debate came at great expense to the political parties involved. At Moja Love’s request, the participating parties incurred expenses to transport and provide refreshments for supporters attending the recording. In addition, the IFP mayoral candidate, Mlungisi Mabaso, missed his flight and paid personally to reschedule his transportation in order to accommodate the production.

If both recorded episodes are not broadcast by 15 October 2026, the affected parties will be forced to take legal action and reserve all rights in that regard.
