Rail theft case: accused changes lawyers for 7th time

The case involving the alleged theft of 42km of state railway line in the Eastern Cape has dragged on for seven years, with multiple postponements due to one of the accused, Nadir Mohiudeen, juggling lawyers.
Former PRASA regional manager Mthuthuzeli Swartz is co-accused in the case.
The trial eventually got underway in March 2025, but multiple delays have left the cross-examination of the first state witness still not completed despite six hearings.
