Riviera Rendezvous: The Côte d’Azur Experience In Africa  | SA News

In the middle of town, statues stand with quiet authority, and gardens offer shade from the relentless sun. The Jardin de l’État provides a leafy pause, while the promenade at Le Barachois looks out across a glittering expanse of sea that seems almost too blue to be real. Tourists drift in clusters–Europeans escaping winter, a smattering of South Africans, a few backpackers ticking another island off a list. The locals, by contrast, appear self-contained, moving with purpose, unhurried and uninterested in spectacle.
