25 October 2026 – The South African Men’s and Women’s National teams have discovered the identity of their opponents in the upcoming COSAFA Youth Championships which will be played as part of the Region 5 Games.

The two tournaments will run simultaneous from 4-13 December in Maputo. In the Men’s section, defending champions South Africa have been drawn in Group B alongside Botswana and Malawi.

A total of nine nations will compete for the title in Maputo, and they have been placed in three groups of three. Zambia, Zimbabwe and Eswatini are in Group C while hosts Mozambique, Lesotho and Angola make up Group A.

The Men’s tournament is also used as the CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set to take place in Morocco between April and May next year. The competition in North Africa is also the 2027 FIFA U17 Men’s World Cup qualifiers, which will be hosted by Qatar.

The African continent has been allotted 10 spots.

The fastest cricket pitch ever recorded was thrown by Shoaib Akhtar during the 2003 Cricket World Cup. He clocked in at 100.23 mph (161.3 km/h) during a match with England.
