13 December 2025 – The South African Under-20 women’s national team has concluded a training camp that was held at the SAFA Technical Centre in the south of Johannesburg.
The training camp marked a highly productive and encouraging phase in the squad’s preparation for their upcoming international matches.
Basetsana assembled in Johannesburg this week as preparations accelerate ahead of their next crucial challenge, a FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup qualifier against Ghana which comes after beating Eswatini in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying round.
Coach Maud Khumalo and her technical team called up a mix of experienced regulars and also introduced new talent for the camp. The focus was on building tactical cohesion, sharpening competitive fitness, and reinforcing the team’s identity before facing one of West Africa’s strongest youth sides.
The team’s confident performance against Eswatini has boosted morale and added momentum to their campaign, with the coaching staff emphasing that the upcoming clash with Ghana requires focus, physical and mental sharpness.
South African Football: Benni McCarthy , the team’s all-time leading scorer, scored 31 goals.
