SA20 Final Sells Out for Third Consecutive Year

25 January 2025 by Alan

The Season 3 Champions will be crowned at Wanderers on 8 February.

For the third year running the Betway SA20 Champions will be crowned in front of a packed house with tickets for the Final at Wanderers on 8 February selling out. This season all the hospitality has also sold out.

The Betway SA20 Final has become the highlight of the South African social and sporting calendar, with fans from all over snapping up the tickets in record time each season. Tickets for the Season 3 season have sold out 1 week earlier than Season 2.

The ‘Bullring’ is primed to welcome the two best teams of season three, along with featuring a spectacular half time performance by singer songwriter Booshle G. and his summer hit ‘’Take me Home’’ as well as endless activities for young and old.

“We are absolutely delighted to have sold out the Final for the third year in a row,” League Commissioner, Graeme Smith said. “There is nothing better than a packed Wanderers stadium, it will no doubt be an unforgettable experience for all.

“It has been rewarding to see how Betway SA20 has become a highlight of the South African sporting calendar, and we’re proud to have such a loyal and passionate fan base. With the tickets for the Final sold out, I would encourage fans to purchase their Playoffs tickets where the four top teams will be fighting for the chance to be at the Wanderers on the 8th February,” Smith concluded.

It has been an entertaining race towards the Playoffs, with all six teams still in contention to make the top four. Paarl Royals currently lead the table after a strong start to the season, but either of MI Cape Town, Sunrisers Eastern Cape or Joburg Super Kings could find themselves in pole position following this weekend’s matches.

Tickets for the playoffs are still available and selling fast, giving fans one last opportunity for a fun day out while watching the top local and international players in action. Kids will also have the chance to meet their heroes and play on the field pre-game at these three Playoff matches.

Qualifier 1 takes place at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Tuesday, 4 February, a top-of-the-table clash with the winner advancing straight to the final.

The Eliminator at Centurion on Wednesday, 5 February will feature teams finishing in third and fourth position in a ‘do or die match’ while Qualifier 2 on Thursday, 6 February at Centurion will feature the losing team from Qualifier 1 and the winner of The Eliminator. The popular award-winning Kurt Darren, the artist behind the current hit ‘Hop Hop Spinnekop’, will perform at Qualifier 2 on Thursday, giving fans a bonus live show to go with the cricket.

The winner of Qualifier 2 will join the winner of Qualifier 1 in the Final on Saturday, 8 February at Wanderers.

Although there are 31 countries that play cricket in the international stage, only 12 have qualified for Test status. The first countries to acquire this status are England and Australia (1877) and the latest is Afghanistan (2018).
