24 October 2025 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) and Sasol have renewed one of South Africa’s most iconic and longstanding sponsorships for a further four- year period, extending the partnership until 2029.
This announcement brings welcome clarity and reaffirms Sasol’s continued commitment as the longest-standing sponsor of women’s football in South Africa, with a partnership spanning over 16 years. Throughout the renewal discussions SAFA and Sasol focused on a shared goal, to continue empowering the South African senior women’s national team (Banyana Banyana) to do what they do best – represent the nation with pride, purpose, and excellence.
The previous sponsorship cycle concluded on 30 June 2025. While renewal negotiations took longer than initially anticipated, the extended engagement provided an opportunity for both parties to align on shared objectives, ultimately strengthening a partnership that continues to enable pathways for women footballers.
“We are delighted with SASOL’s renewal of the South African senior women’s national team premier partnership to continue the legacy of growing women’s football until 2029,” said SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao. “SASOL Banyana Banyana® will continue to bear the SASOL logo in training and travel uniforms as they charter their way back to the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco and the drive to qualify for the FIFA 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. This announcement is also a symbol of faith in SAFA’s properties for corporate South Africa when they look for access to their consumers and fans as football is not only the biggest sport in South Africa, but also balanced in gender as both men and women love the teams equally.

These include multiple COSAFA Cup titles, qualification for two Olympic Games, their first-ever appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019, a historic knockout stage appearance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the WAFCON championship title in 2022, cementing Banyana Banyana’s place in South Africa’s sporting history.”
Both SAFA and Sasol have expressed their excitement to continue this longstanding partnership, reaffirming their joint commitment to ensuring that Banyana Banyana remain a competitive force in African and global football.
