24 June 2025 – The draw for the 2024/2025 ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs was conducted at the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) headquarters in Johannesburg on Tuesday and the matches are scheduled to be played in Ekurhuleni next month.

The matches are to be played at the Tsakane Stadium from Tuesday, 1 July to Sunday, 6 July 2025. As of this evening, six teams had confirmed their participation in the National Playoffs.

Limpopo is playing tomorrow to decide the provincial winners. The North West arbitration award verdict is expected on Friday while Western Cape is yet to be decided. The teams were divided into three groups and the matches will played in a round-robin format.

Meanwhile, the draw for the National Schools Football Championship 2025 was also conducted today and the tournament will be held in Durban, at the University of KZN from 11 – 15 July 2025 for Under 15 Boys & Girls. The Championship is in partnership with National DSAC and DoE.

SAFA Vice President Linda Zwane said the ABC Motsepe and CAF schools are a great platform for talent search within the country.

“This draw comes as a result of games that were played in the provinces, with schools first, and with the ABC Motsepe teams,” he said. “We all know that schools’ football is the bedrock of football development in any country, therefore it is very important that we raise the schools and make sure that schools are playing in the country, because without that there is no future. Every player you see at elite level started at school.

“Every player you see at elite level either comes from the villages, townships or farms. So, they were then scouted from schools and it is very important we take that aspect of the game very seriously.”
