24 May 2026 – The South African Football Association held a very successful 34th Ordinary Congress at the Birchwood Hotel & Conference Centre in the East of Johannesburg on Sunday.
The 34th Ordinary Congress was a culmination of a successful weekend that began with a National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting that was held at the same venue on Friday. The NEC Meeting was followed by a Constitutional Congress on Saturday, and finally with the Ordinary Congress taking centre stage on Sunday.
Delegates from around the country descended on the venue on Sunday to attend an event that was also graced by representatives from, among others, FIFA and the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA).
Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie, recently appointed COSAFA President Tariq Babitseng and FIFA Southern Africa Regional Lead David Fani addressed a gathering that was also attended by some members from the SAFA technical department – Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, Banyana Banyana coach Dr Desiree Ellis, U20 Men’s National Team Head Coach Raymond Mdaka, Bantwana head coach Ntombifuthi Khumalo, SAFA Technical Director Ray Mdaka and Bafana Bafana team manager Vincent Tseka, among others.

“The members were very happy to see all the coaches and the players of the under-17 team coming to greet them,” said SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan.
“We then had the presentation of the audited financial statement, which is for the 32nd year in succession, 32 years, that SAFA had an unqualified audit report. This was tabled and accepted by the Congress, as was all other 32 years’ audited financial statement presented and accepted by Congress.
“Then we had various issues relating to the members’ constitutional amendments, which largely were dealt with yesterday in the meeting. I don’t think there are significant changes, but I think we are now set for the September Congress, which will then be conducted in terms of the statutes that have been adopted yesterday and contributions today.”
The chairman of the Finance Committee, Mxolisi Sibam, said the arrival of new partners and Bafana Bafana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will boost the Association’s financial recovery.
“We can see recovery coming up in 2026. It is going to be a very, very good year for us as the Association and in 2027 we will start stabilizing going forward,” Sibam said.
