Makhudu Sefara has been cleared of breaching SANEF’s code of conduct by an independent inquiry.
Sefara received R550,000 of a lottery grant from Todi Media. He used this to organise a one-day workshop for fewer than 50 people.
Sefara’s company’s service fee, excluding conference expenses, was R250,000 – for no more than a few weeks of work.
The Special Investigating Unit has taken issue with SANEF’s statement, which announced that Sefara had been cleared.
Makhudu Sefara has been cleared of wrongdoing by an inquiry commissioned by the South African National Editors Forum (SANEF). He will not, however, be resuming his position as chairperson.
