The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) welcomes the sentences handed down today by the Polokwane High Court to the three accused in the Nicci Jansen van Rensburg murder case.

Nicci was murdered on his farm in Roedtan, Limpopo, on 7 October 2022.

All three accused received life sentences along with additional sentences for conspiracy to commit a robbery, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The Freedom Front Plus welcomes Judge Marisa Naudé-Odendaal’s clear condemnation of farm murders and their detrimental impact on farming communities.

In her judgment, she echoed the Freedom Front Plus’s view that farm murders are a reality in South Africa and cannot be considered ordinary crime due to their excessive brutality.

This reaffirms that farm murders and attacks should be seen and treated as priority crime.
