Sewage Flows Through Streets

1 March 2026 by Guest

Statement by Adv. Glynnis Breytenbach MP – DA Spokesperson on Justice and Constitutional Development:

The Democratic Alliance (DA) will conduct rigorous oversight at the Alexandra Magistrates Court to determine the extent of service delivery failures and investigate its impact on residents’ right of access to justice.

Section 34 of the Constitution grants everyone the right of access to justice.

The ANC-led City of Johannesburg is denying Alexandra residents this right through their dismal failure to provide basic services.

A recent media article showcased the dire state of the area surrounding the court with sidewalks covered in piles of refuse and sewage flowing in the streets.

Although this is just one example of city-wide collapse under ANC government, it also exposes the fact that where municipalities fail, citizens can’t access justice.

No resident should have to dodge puddles of human excrement to get a protection order against an abusive partner.

No resident should have to wade through waist-high rubbish piles to have their legal rights vindicated.

The extent of the lack of services sends a clear message: the ANC does not care about the residents of Johannesburg.

The DA hopes that its oversight will shed light on how far the once-great City has fallen and expose how the impact of ANC sponsored collapse has spread beyond basic service delivery.

Van der Merwe goes to Paris to watch the Boks take on the Brits at the world cup.

Whilst in Paris, he walks around, gaping and staring at everything – so much so that he walks smack bang into a fire hydrant which hits him so hard on the family jewels that he has to be rushed to hospital where the doctors tell him they have to remove his testicles.

Van goes berserk, he bites and snarls at every one and he won\’t let anybody within 10 metres of him. Eventually they find a South African doctor in the hospital and get him to talk to Van.

He walks up to Van and tells him \”Hey Van, die ouens moet jou knaters uithaal.\”

Van replies \”O, okay, ek dog die bliksems wil my test tickets vat.\”
