Stellantis continues its dealer expansion drive to make its brands more accessible to South African consumers and it’s focused on Stellantis’ top-performing dealer for 2022, SMH Sandton.

The impressive Southern Motor Holdings (SMH) facility on William Nicol Drive in Sandton, Gauteng is already a successful Jeep, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo dealer and now offers full sales and aftersales service for Peugeot, Citroën, and Opel. In addition to being named overall Dealer of the Year for 2022, SMH Sandton scooped Large Service Department and Sales Dealer of the Year 2022, as well as being named Fiat Dealer of the Year in Stellantis’ dealer awards last year.

The addition of Peugeot, Citroën, and Opel brands into the facility provides a full brand house for Stellantis and a consolidated hub for customers to interact with all the brands.

“We’re excited to further extend our relationship with SMH in Johannesburg and make more of our brands even more accessible and convenient to customers in the northern suburbs,” said Leslie Ramsoomar, Managing Director Stellantis South Africa. “This is an important step forward for Opel, Peugeot, and Citroën to join the rest of our brand line-up conveniently accessible under one roof.”

SMH was established in 1977 and started expanding more aggressively during the 1990s as the family business took root in the next generation. Successful operations across multiple brands has resonated with Stellantis’ network strategy of addressing, improving and driving customer satisfaction.

SMH Sandton’s beautiful facility is located at the corner of William Nicol and Ballyclare Drives in Bryanston, Johannesburg and features comfortable waiting areas with complimentary WiFi and refreshments.

  1. National debt: South Africa’s debt to GDP ratio is 48%. Compared to the USA (100%), Japan (200%), and the UK (90%) South Africa does not do too badly in this department. The World Bank recommends a ratio of 60%. With reasonable debt levels the likelihood that the government is able to repay its debt is high and that its fiscal policy is sustainable. This is conducive for starting a business in South Africa, knowing that the government will still be able to continue spending and thus stimulate the economy.
