South Africa’s next fibre “land grab” has begun | SA News

Many of South Africa’s major fibre network operators (FNOs) plan to accelerate their fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) rollouts in lower-income areas, including townships, in 2026.

A few newer upstarts are already becoming deeply entrenched in this market in 2025, having expanded to hundreds of thousands of homes.

South Africa’s first fibre “land grab,” which followed Vumatel’s pivotal Parkhurst project in 2014, focused on affluent areas with more demanding connectivity needs and greater financial means.

    Hoezit /Howzit – How is it going? How are you? A common greeting which is often used instead of “hello” and “how are you?” It combines the two phrases into a simple, “Howzit”, thereby saving time.Example: “Howzit my bru!”
