South Africa’s Young Trailblazers

18 June 2025 by Guest

As South Africa celebrates Youth Month, a time to recognise the energy, resilience, and potential of our younger generation, Jetour South Africa proudly spotlights some of its own rising stars who are shaping the future of the brand. These dynamic individuals represent the innovation, agility and adventurous spirit synonymous with the brand. From marketing and logistics to finance and operations, meet some of the young professionals powering Jetour’s momentum.

Bongani Hlophe, Digital Marketing Analyst

Bongani’s journey into the automotive world began with a marketing internship while still studying at university. That early opportunity led him to become a Digital Marketing Analyst at this growing SUV brand which was launched into South Africa in September last year.

“It’s been an exciting and rewarding experience,” he says. “Every day brings something new, and I’ve learnt so much in a short time.”

Bongani credits strong mentorship, from both his family and within Jetour itself, with helping him navigate early challenges, particularly around gaining recognition and trust as a young voice in a corporate space. “One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to raise your hand, volunteer, take initiative, and put yourself forward,” he says.

His advice to other youth is to be open-minded. “Sometimes the best opportunities come from unexpected places. Flexibility opens doors.”

Jesse Salo, Cost Accountant

Originally from Kimberley, Jesse’s academic foundation with a BCom in Financial Sciences at the University of Pretoria has served him well as he now helps Jetour manage its profitability and competitive edge.

“Being a young professional at a global brand like Jetour is incredibly rewarding,” he says. “It pushes you to grow, adapt, and think strategically.”

He acknowledges that building confidence in rooms where experience dominates has been a personal hurdle, but one he has overcome through preparation, consistency, and being open to feedback.

“Growth often happens outside of your comfort zone,” he says. “It’s where you learn the most.”

Looking ahead, Jesse wants to be in leadership role, contributing to strategy and mentoring younger team members.

Khanyisile Dladla, Logistics Assistant

Khanyisile brings a sharp focus and steady ambition to Jetour’s logistics operations. Having studied Public Management and now Supply Chain, she’s determined to broaden her impact.

“I’m learning how each part of the supply chain fits into the bigger picture,” she says. “In five years, I hope to understand the full ecosystem.”

Khanyisile has really found her voice at Jetour by asking questions and leaning into mentorship, especially from a supportive manager. “Most people are improvising more than they show — project confidence while you build expertise behind the scenes,” she says.

Her advice to others wanting to progress in their careers is to start small. “Internships and volunteer roles all count. Your first job won’t define your whole career.”

Sherené Nolte, Marketing Co-Ordinator

Sherené’s route to marketing within the automotive industry began in unexpected places – from scuba diving instruction to customer service roles. These early experiences taught her communication, resilience, and how to adapt, all of which serve her well now as she coordinates national marketing campaigns for Jetour.

“It’s exciting and challenging to be a part of Jetour’s growth from the ground up,” she says. “I’ve been given the space to contribute and learn.”

Sherené is driven by continuous learning and self-leadership. “Growth comes from being uncomfortable,” she reflects. “Some of my biggest breakthroughs came from moments of self-doubt, but the important thing is that I showed up anyway.”

“Don’t wait to feel ready. Ask questions. Network. Take initiative,” she advises.

Shibiko Nkuna, Warranty Administrator

Shibiko’s automotive career began at a multinational automotive manufacturer and expanded through experience in insurance claims before he joined Jetour, bringing both technical know-how and customer insight to his current role.

“I’ve had incredible support, especially from my manager, who has mentored me and helped me grow into a role where I now help train others,” he shares.

Shibiko views youth employment as vital to South Africa’s future. “When young people are empowered through meaningful work, they become contributors to their communities and role models for the next generation.”

“Adaptability and continuous learning,” is what Shibiko advises his peers . “The industry evolves fast. Staying open to change is what drives growth.”

Thato Modirapula, Sales Coordinator

Thato’s professional path within the automotive sector to date has spanned tyres, mobility solutions and vehicle conversions. That diverse foundation has prepared her to be able to contribute meaningfully at Jetour, where she now supports national sales operations.

“Being part of a global brand that’s growing so quickly is inspiring,” she says. “It’s pushed me to grow, stay flexible, and keep learning.”

Navigating corporate culture and earning credibility were initial hurdles, but mentorship and persistence helped her find her footing. “Stay curious and keep putting yourself out there,” she advises others. “Each step, no matter how small, teaches you something.”

Thato sees herself growing into a strategic role where she can support Jetour’s growth, while also being able to mentor the next wave of talent.

As Jetour South Africa continues to grow its footprint in the local market, with over 4 000 units of the Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus already sold, it’s clear that the brand’s momentum is being powered not just by innovative products, but by passionate people.

“What I see in our younger team members is nothing short of inspiring. Their fresh perspectives, relentless drive, and hunger to grow are helping shape a brand that truly reflects the energy and ambition of a new generation,” Jetour South Africa Vice President Nic Campbell.
