Soweto officials accused of fraudulently selling houses

A receptionist from the Pimville housing office faces fraud and corruption charges after a Hawks probe found officials forged title deeds

A receptionist from the Pimville housing office faces fraud and corruption charges next week in the Kliptown Regional Court following a Hawks probe into the sale of houses.
At least two municipal officials are said to have facilitated fraudulent transfers of properties, using fabricated wills and altered title deeds.
The scam appears to have targeted elderly residents and bereaved families who cannot afford the legal costs to fight back.
