Johannesburg, South Africa, 10 December 2024: St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, recently hosted its Familiarization Program, welcoming education agents and school counselors from Africa and around the world to its campus. The program offered a comprehensive overview of SGU’s medical curriculum and campus facilities, providing valuable insights into the university’s offerings.

During the visit, the delegates were introduced to the life of an SGU medical student and learned how the institution’s programs and tracks are designed to prepare students for real-world medical practice. The tour included exclusive access to SGU’s modern medical facilities, including specialist simulation and anatomy laboratories, clinical exam rooms, a sonogram room and the campus security center.

In addition, the delegates explored other campus amenities such as the fitness and wellness center, health services clinic, and accommodation halls, gaining a holistic understanding of the university’s commitment to student support and well-being.

David Anthonisz, Executive Director of International Student Recruitment at St. George’s University, said: “The SGU Familiarization Program is essential for showcasing our facilities and providing education agents and school counselors the opportunity to interact with academic staff. These tours are meticulously designed to offer a first-hand experience of what SGU provides—both inside and outside the classroom—and demonstrate how our curriculum equips students with the critical skills and knowledge needed for successful medical careers.”

The visitors expressed their appreciation for SGU’s infrastructure, programs, and student-focused initiatives. Heidi shared: “Grenada is a vibrant and welcoming destination that offers students the opportunity to combine education with a rich cultural experience. SGU’s holistic approach helps students prepare for success, supported by thoughtful programs/tracks and a vibrant community. This trip has reinforced the idea that medicine is truly a calling, and SGU is committed to nurturing students who embody this spirit.”

“If a young man tells his date how handsome, smart, and successful he is – that’s advertising. If the young man tells his date she’s intelligent, looks lovely, and is a great conversationalist, he’s saying the right things to the right person and that’s marketing. If someone else tells the young woman how handsome, smart, and successful her date is – that’s PR.” – S. H. Simmons

The other thing that gives a scientific man the creeps in the world today are the methods of choosing leaders – in every nation. Today, for example, in the United States, the two political parties have decided to employ Public Relations men, that is, advertising men, who are trained in the necessary methods of telling the truth or lying in order to develop a product. – Richard P. Feynman
