Following a breakout year on the local live circuit, Swimmer returns with a new single, “Waterbodies” — a dreamy, acoustic pop track that captures the beauty of connection.

“Inspired by the story of two people coming from opposite worlds, and somehow meeting in the middle. Like all water leading to the ocean, their destiny to be together was always inevitable,” says Marcel, lead singer/songwriter.

“Waterbodies” evokes the classic storytelling and emotional depth of artists like Crowded House and Counting Crows.

The Story So Far

In 2024 / 2025 Swimmer has been active on the live circuit, playing shows at Bailey’s, Sognage, The Radium Beerhall, Rumours, Studio 69, Jozi Showbar, The Irish Club Linden – opening for Broke ‘n Free, Black Cat Bones, and Laudo Liebenberg (aKing, Heuwels), and co-headlining with After Wonderland and Man as Machine in a series of events around Joburg.

In September 2023, Swimmer launched their debut album, ‘Sirens and Cathedrals’, with two singles making it onto the top 20 of Mix FM Top 40 – “Baggage”, spending 13 weeks in the chart, reaching #13, and “Feeding time” (featuring the legendary Frank Opperman), reaching #37 in the chart.

Swimmer’s variety in sound ranges from hard / alt rock to acoustic rock and indie folk.

The other thing that gives a scientific man the creeps in the world today are the methods of choosing leaders – in every nation. Today, for example, in the United States, the two political parties have decided to employ Public Relations men, that is, advertising men, who are trained in the necessary methods of telling the truth or lying in order to develop a product. – Richard P. Feynman
