Top Dealers

27 May 2024 by Guest

Renault South Africa, part of Motus, held its Annual Dealer of the Year Awards ceremony recently, honouring dealerships and motor groups for their success in 2023.

Held at The Maslow Time Square in Pretoria, the annual gala event shone a spotlight on the top dealers’ unwavering commitment to excellence and outstanding contributions throughout the year.

The top honours in the category for large dealerships went to Group 1, Renault The Glen, while Renault Bruma was nominated as the medium dealerships winner.  The winner of the small category dealerships was awarded to Auto City Group, namely Renault Heidelberg, and the category for micro dealerships was scooped by Kelston Renault Queenstown.

Renault SA approached the four category winners of the Dealer of the Year titles for their reaction, and this is what they had to say:

George Stegmann (Dealer Principal at Group 1 Renault The Glen):  “I want to express my gratitude for the award.  This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.  We are honoured to be recognised as Renault Dealer of the Year and remain committed to going above and beyond for our customers and our community.”

Muhammed Asvat (Parts Manager at Bruma Renault):  “It is with great honour that Renault Bruma accepts the Dealer of the Year award. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence, customer satisfaction and innovation within the automotive industry.  Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to achieve this milestone, and this award is testament to their hard work, commitment and passion.  We extend our heartfelt thanks to our customers, partners and the entire Renault family for their continued support and trust.”

Albert Grobler Jnr (Dealer Principal at AutoCity Group Renault Heidelberg): “To hear that our dealership is a winner is awesome, but difficult to put into words.  Winning such a prestigious award is both rewarding for a year’s hard work and also a massive privilege to be able to  hold the Dealer of the Year title for a full year.”

Johan van der Merwe (Dealer Principal at Kelston Renault Queenstown):  “Wow, what a wonderful feeling seeing Renault Queenstown’s name on the big screen.  I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I couldn’t put it into words.  Bringing the award back to the dealership and getting the entire dealership together and thanking them for what they have done, is truly an honour.  The happiness was tangible as the team celebrated together.  Thank you, Renault SA.”

Several other noteworthy Independent Motor Group awards were presented at the gala event:

  • The BB Auto Group received notable recognition, in the form Best Overall Achievement.
  • The Motus Automotive Retail Group took the honours for the Retailer of the Year, as well as for Most Improved Group.
  • The McCarthy Group walked away with the title for the Most Consistent Performer.
  • The Eastvaal Motor Group was presented with the Most Improved Sales Market Penetration title; and
  • The Prestige Group received the Most Consistent Sales and Quality title.

A number of Individuals were recognised for their commendable contributions to the Renault brand, including:

Mining: South Africa is still a big player in mining. It is ranked 1st in Platinum output, 2nd in Palladium output, 5th in Gold output, and 7th in Coal output. Mining is what made South Africa and there is opportunity to start value-adding businesses that can bring huge export potential. Think of diamond cutting, and jewellery manufacturing. This is an untapped market!
