Treasury to decide on basic income policy by July, MPs told

The Department of Social Development expects the verdict of the National Treasury on its proposed Basic Income Support (BIS) policy by July, MPs were told on Wednesday.
The department has revised the policy after the Treasury asked for stronger links between income support and job opportunities.
Once the Treasury has given the go-head, the policy will have to go through a process of government approvals and public consultations.
