Liza Burgess has named her Wales Women’s side to take on Italy in the Six Nations Women’s U21 Series at Rugby Lyons Piacenza, on Saturday (KO 1.30pm).
Following a heavy defeat to the impressive French in the opening round two weeks ago, Burgess has made four changes to the starting line-up, one in the backline and three in the forwards.
Aimee Bush is set to make her debut in place of Gabby Healen while up front Stella Orrin replaces Katherine Baverstock at loosehead prop, Shanelle Williams comes in for Molly Wakely at hooker with Alaw Pyrs taking over from Tilly Vucaj in the second row.
“It will be a first cap for Aimee Bush on the wing in the U21s, said Burgess. “Aimee has trained really well and is an exciting prospect. Stella Orrin has returned from the senior Six Nations extended squad.
“We are delighted to have Stella back in the u21s squad as she had an outstanding season with Brython Thunder and has trained hard and is really deserving her starting spot in the team.
“Shanelle Williams and experienced international Alaw Prys both get the start this week. Freya Bell also returns after gaining her first senior international cap in an impressive performance against England last week.
“We have some close games with Italy over the last couple of years. The girls have bought into everything and refocused after the France game – we are looking forward to going out there and putting in a good performance this week for 80 minutes.”
