Pretoria, South Africa – 13th March 2026 – Weelee, one of South Africa’s fastest-growing pre-owned automotive marketplaces, has officially broken ground on site for its newest megastore facility in Silver Lakes, Pretoria. This exciting milestone marks the start of construction and a major step forward in the company’s national expansion strategy.

The new Weelee megastore will include 20 000m² of showroom space, creating capacity for almost a thousand vehicles in a single world-class facility, boosting the company’s ability to offer South African consumers greater access to competitively priced pre-owned vehicles with more stock availability and an enhanced buying experience.  This development kicks off Weelee’s aggressive expansion plan, with further large-scale locations set to roll out nationwide over the next 18–24 months.

Transforming the Used-Car Marketplace

Weelee CEO Errol Levin described the groundbreaking as a pivotal moment.

“Weelee announces the start of construction on its next megastore facility in South Africa, a major milestone in our continued growth,” says Levin. “This next Weelee development marks another step in the growth of a technology-driven megastore that will help shape the future of the automotive marketplace in South Africa.

The new megastore will integrate digital inspections, data-driven pricing, and seamless connections with Weelee’s online platform, enabling faster, more transparent transactions for sellers, dealers, and buyers. Levin added that this expansion promotes healthy competition in the used-car market, ultimately delivering more choice and better pricing for consumers. The project will also bring new employment opportunities to Silver Lakes and surrounding communities, supporting local economic growth.

Technology at the Core of the Customer Experience

Technology will play a central role in the new facility’s operations and customer journey.  According to Weelee’s CTO Hennie Nel, the site will integrate the company’s award-winning Salesforce automation platform and AI-powered vehicle search technology directly into the in-store buying experience.

“Artificial intelligence will be incorporated into both the buying and selling journey,” says Nel. “Customers will be able to use AI-powered natural search tools and self-service kiosks to explore vehicles, while our backend automation and data systems help deliver more competitive pricing and a more seamless purchasing experience.”  Nel adds that as Weelee continues to collect and analyse more vehicle data, the company’s AI pricing models become more powerful , creating further pricing advantages for customers.

A New Customer-Focused Megastore Experience

According to Sam Ghisleni, Head of Marketing at Weelee, “The new megastore will feature a large vehicle showroom, in-house finance services, comfortable customer lounges, a coffee shop and seamless integration of our digital tools for an effortless buying and selling journey.  All this offered in a hi-touch, hi-tech space. Silver Lakes was chosen for its strong market demand, accessibility, and growth potential and this ground-breaking signals the start of our next expansion wave, bringing Weelee closer to customers right across South Africa,” says Ghisleni.

The new Silver Lakes megastore is expected to officially open on 1 February 2027, with special launch offers and promotions to be revealed closer to the opening date.  Weelee is thrilled about this exciting milestone and the launch of construction on the Silver Lakes megastore. This new location represents a bold step in delivering even greater value, convenience, and innovation to South African car buyers and sellers, and the company looks forward to welcoming customers to this game-changing space in February 2027 as part of its mission to redefine the pre-owned vehicle marketplace nationwide.

Johnson & Johnson’s Classic Crisis Case Study: Ivy Lee may have pioneered crisis communications with the press release and Rockefeller campaign, but Johnson & Johnson perfected it during a 1982 Tylenol recall. When news of Tylenol bottles laced with cyanide created a nationwide panic, many thought J&J’s reputation would never recover. But the company’s stellar response – including national media statements, pulling all Tylenol from shelves, and introducing tamper-resistant seals – earned praise from outlets such as The Washington Post and delivered a rapid post-crisis comeback. Today, Johnson & Johnson’s recall is considered one of the most successful examples of crisis communications. (Source: PR Week)

Sigmund Freud was tghe founding father of Public Relations, Edward Bernays’ “double uncle”. Sigmund was Edward’s mother’s brother, and he married Edward’s father’s sister (Martha Bernays Freud). That was a tongue twister, but aren’t you glad you learned a new term?
