When Rum and Bitters Find Perfect Harmony

Some cocktails are remembered not for their complexity, but for the way they make you feel.

The Rum Old Fashioned is one of them. Rooted in simplicity yet rich in character, it is a gentle reminder that the most memorable cocktails are created when every ingredient has the opportunity to reveal itself.

Here, premium aged rum and carefully chosen bitters come together in quiet harmony, each drawing out the best in each other to create a cocktail that unfolds in every sip.

Here is how you can create your own harmony.

Rum Old Fashioned Cocktail Recipe

60 ml Premium aged rum
7.5 ml demerara sugar syrup or 5ml simple syrup (or your preferred choice depending on sweetness preference)
2 dashes ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters
2 dashes ANGOSTURA® orange bitters
Orange peel to garnish
Large ice cube

Method

Fill a mixing glass with ice. Add the premium aged rum, demerara sugar syrup, ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters and ANGOSTURA® orange bitters. Stir gently for around 20–30 seconds until the cocktail is well chilled and perfectly diluted.
Strain over a large ice cube in a chilled rocks glass. Express the oils from a strip of fresh orange peel over the drink, run the peel around the rim of the glass, then garnish and serve.

Public relations professionals must wear several hats: Traditionally, PR work consisted of damage control, crafting press releases, disseminating company news and pitching journalists. Today’s PR professionals are digital multi-hyphenates who require a diverse skillset. Knowledge of SEO, influencer marketing, social media campaigns, link building and trending topics all sit on the wishlist of skills.
