JOHANNESBURG: WSB Western Province Women continued their fine form in the Hollywoodbets Pro20 with a thrilling two-wicket victory against Garden Route Badgers Women on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Fidelity Titans Ladies carried their momentum forward at SuperSport Park, securing back-to-back wins with a composed 56-run victory over the North West Dragons Women.

After winning the toss at the WSB Newlands, the home side’s captain, Leah Jones, elected to bowl first.

It proved to be a tightly contested encounter, with the match swinging either way during a tense finish.

Badgers Women posted 114/7 in their 20 overs, as their top order struggled to find fluency. Gizelle Augusta Abrahams top-scored with 24 (29), while Julia Hoal contributed 23 (29).

Palesa Mapoo 2 (5), Izel Cilliers 9 (12) and Nicolien Janse van Rensburg 17 (15) were unable to provide the acceleration needed.

Western Province’s bowlers were disciplined throughout, with Nosipho Vezi delivering a Player of the Match performance, claiming 2/17, while Jemma Botha supported well with figures of 2/21.

In reply, Western Province were well prepared for the chase. Faye Tunnicliffe anchored the innings with a crucial 30 runs, while all-rounder Yandiswa Mangele added a valuable 22, as the home side reached 115/8 to seal the win.

In Centurion, the Titans Ladies also enjoyed a dominant outing after winning the toss and electing to bat first. They posted a competitive 156/6, built around an excellent 61 from Tebogo Macheke and a fluent half-century from Miane Smit.

Despite spirited efforts from the Dragons’ bowlers, including Nthabiseng Nini (2/12) and Tabitha le Grange (2/39), the total proved too much.

In response, the Dragons were restricted to 100/7, with Samantha Schutte and Smit each picking up two wickets to wrap up a comprehensive win.
