14 Years for Murder

TSEKI – SAPS Tseki Detective Service, working together with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), successfully secured the conviction and sentencing of 41-year-old Teboho Kubheka from Hasethunya Village in Qwaqwa to 15 years’ direct imprisonment for murder.

Kubheka was sentenced on Monday, 31 August 2026, for the murder of 43-year-old Thabiso Molitsoane, whom he fatally stabbed following allegations that the deceased was involved in a relationship with his girlfriend.

On 05 May 2023 at about 02:10, Kubheka was with his girlfriend when he accused her of cheating with the deceased, Thabiso Molitsoane.

It is alleged that Kubheka and his girlfriend went out in search of Molitsoane, who was a neighbour of his girlfriend. They eventually found him, where after Kubheka stabbed him multiple times.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital in a private vehicle, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Kubheka fled the scene but was later arrested on 09 December 2024 in Qwaqwa. He was remanded in custody after being denied bail and remained in custody awaiting trial.

On Monday, 31 August 2026, Kubheka appeared before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court, where he was convicted of murder and sentenced to 15 years’ direct imprisonment.

The case was investigated by Detective Sergeant Sabatha Rampini of the Tseki Detective Service.

The Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thabang Lesia, welcomed the sentence and applauded the SAPS investigation team and the NPA for their sterling work in ensuring that the accused was brought to justice.

“The message is crystal clear: crime does not pay, and justice will prevail,” said Lieutenant General Lesia.
