A Collaboration Rooted in Heritage and Hope

30 April 2025 by Guest

The newest chapter in South African design excellence has arrived. Toile du Sud, a collaborative interior home range by Cape Town-based interior designer Kim Williams and fashion designer Jessica Molebatsi, will be available at @home. The range honours South Africa’s rich natural and cultural heritage, merging storytelling with interior design.

Following the success of the Noluthando (2022) and RAGADI (2024) African Toile interior home collections, Toile du Sud home collection brings a botanical flair to interiors — soft linens, warm palettes, and designs that embody unity and rootedness.

“This is more than a collection,” says Kim Williams. “It’s an embodiment of what happens when women collaborate to design not just products, but a future.”

Together, Kim and Jessica continue to show how creative women in business can elevate our industries, inspire our homes, and shape narratives that stretch beyond borders. Toile du Sud is their love letter to South Africa—its land, its people, and its untold potential.

Exclusive Toile du Sud interior home collection pieces and curated colours will be available at @home flagship retail stores nationwide, offering a unique décor shopping experience.

  • Publish the Call, Then Publish the Grade

Dear Editor, South African football fans argue about everything — lineups, referees, who should start up front. But there’s one argument we never have, because nobody gives us the numbers: were the predictions we read all week actually any good? I help run XG Mind AI, a small independent football data lab. Our rule is…

National debt: South Africa’s debt to GDP ratio is 48%. Compared to the USA (100%), Japan (200%), and the UK (90%) South Africa does not do too badly in this department. The World Bank recommends a ratio of 60%. With reasonable debt levels the likelihood that the government is able to repay its debt is high and that its fiscal policy is sustainable. This is conducive for starting a business in South Africa, knowing that the government will still be able to continue spending and thus stimulate the economy.
