amaBhaca Chief and DA welcome 200 new members

13 July 2023 by Alan

Dear Editor

Today, 13 July 2023, the DA in the Eastern Cape concluded a very successful engagement with the Chief of the amaBhaca people, Bhekamabandla Mdutyana, at the amaBhaca kraal near Mount Frere.

I was joined by DA Alfred Nzo Constituency Leader, Baxolile Nodada MP, and local DA councillors and we were welcomed with open arms.

We raised a number of issues with Chief Mdutyana and have offered our assistance with the issues that were raised by the community. These issues include rural safety, the development of rural communities through the delivery of basic services and the repair and maintenance of some of the most shocking rural roads. These roads are a barrier to development and service delivery.

The DA has agreed to take these issues up and we will be fighting for the amaBhaca people in the EC Provincial Legislature and in National Parliament to ensure that services are prioritised and expedited to this community.

We also welcomed 200 former ANC members into the DA fold at a public meeting at Ntsimangweni Village in Ward 10 of the Umzimvubu Local Municipality.

The DA’s rural strategy is paying dividends and starting to bear fruit in some of the most far-flung parts of the Eastern Cape, where the people of the province are starting to see hope in a future led by a DA government. The DA expects incredible growth in these communities in the 2024 national and provincial government elections, as well as in the 2026 local government elections.

We have made a commitment that we will continue to work hard to bring the ANC down below 60% in the Eastern Cape and will continue to bring services to the forgotten people of the province.

There is no corner of the province where the DA in the Eastern Cape is not welcomed with open arms. We continue to grow across the province every single day.

Regards

Andrew Whitfield MP
DA EC Provincial Leader

A baby was born in South Africa. The village was very poor, and the makeshift hospital didn\’t have some necessary equipment.. such as scales.

The father however, was desperate to know the newborn baby\’s weight. After quite a bit of asking around, the hospital\’s chairman came up with an idea.

\”Five miles west, there\’s a butcher shop. The owner deals with meat, he should have a rather precise scale. You could just put your baby on the meat scale, and the weight reading you\’ll get should be pretty accurate.\”

And so the father departed westward. After much walking, with his newborn child cardled safely in his arms, he finally arrived at the butcher shop. He explained his dilemma to the shop owner, to witch the latter replied:

\”Don\’t worry, friend. It\’s not even a problem, I\’ll check it for you, free of charge.\” And so he took the child to the back, where the scale was located.

The father heard rumbling noises, and some scraping.. About a minute later the butcher came back.

\”About three pounds boneless\” He said.
