
Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed Chinese automotive giant Chery International is planning a multi-billion-rand investment to recommission the old Nissan plant in Rosslyn, Pretoria, with production of Chery vehicles in SA expected to begin by next year.
Chery bosses confirmed the investment during the sixth annual South Africa Investment Conference (Saic 2026) in Sandton on Tuesday, following its announcement in January that it would be buying Nissan’s manufacturing plant.
