The post CITY OF JOHANNESBURG: Repair of potholes, crumbling infrastructure, and proper budget allocation appeared first on Freedom Front Plus.

We, the undersigned residents and taxpayers of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, hereby submit this petition in the interest of our communities and the fair use of public funds.

Our Concerns:

  1. The ongoing neglect of roads are visible in the numerous potholes and unsafe driving conditions across the city.
  2. The rapid deterioration of municipal infrastructure, including street lights, traffic signals, stormwater systems, water and electricity infrastructure.
  3. The mis-allocation and misuse of funds that should be directed toward infrastructure maintenance in tax-paying wards.
  4. The failure to ensure that budgeted funds are spent exclusively on the projects for which they were allocated.

Our demands:

We, as citizens and taxpayers, demand that the City of Johannesburg:

  1. Urgently prioritise and repair potholes and unsafe roads across the Metro, proper maintenance on all water and electricity infrastructure.
  2. Allocate budgets fairly and equitably, ensuring that tax-paying wards receive proper maintenance and service delivery.
  3. Implement transparent and accountable mechanisms to guarantee that funds are spent only on approved and budgeted projects.
  4. Commit to long-term maintenance plans that prevent infrastructure from reaching a state of crisis.

Our commitment:

As responsible citizens, we pay our taxes with the expectation that the City will deliver on its constitutional mandate of service delivery and infrastructure maintenance.

We demand urgent corrective action to ensure that Johannesburg does not continue to decline due to mismanagement and neglect. By signing this petition, I acknowledge that this petition will become a public document, and all the information contained in it will be publicly available.

Freedom Front Plus Advocacy: The FF Plus advocates for the protection of minority rights in South Africa.
