Clarins brings together the performance of make-up and 40 years of Double Serum skincare expertise in an innovative foundation designed to reveal radiant-looking skin.

South Africans can now experience a new expression of Clarins innovation with the launch of Double Serum Foundation, a hybrid foundation that combines complexion-enhancing make-up with skincare expertise inspired by the iconic Double Serum.

Designed to deliver a luminous complexion alongside skincare benefits, Double Serum Foundation offers a lightweight, fluid texture, an elegant satin finish and adjustable coverage, allowing consumers to tailor their make-up to their individual preferences.2

At the heart of this innovation is Clarins’ exclusive dual-phase [COLOR + HYDRIC] technology. Housed in a distinctive double bottle, the two phases remain separate until application, helping to preserve the integrity of the formula’s active ingredients. An integrated dial allows users to customise the amount dispensed, adjusting coverage from light to more intense.

The result is a new approach to foundation, where complexion perfection meets Clarins’ long-standing expertise in skincare.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE RADIANCE

Central to Double Serum Foundation is A.U.R.A. technology (Advanced Ultra Radiance Amplifier), developed by Clarins Research Laboratories to enhance the skin’s natural-looking radiance. Incorporating reflective microcrystals, the technology intensifies light diffusion and reflection to create an immediate luminous effect.

Working alongside A.U.R.A. technology is stabilised papain, an enzymatic exfoliant that helps support skin renewal and refine the appearance of the complexion. Together, these innovations help create a smoother-looking, more radiant finish.

The formula contains 14 active ingredients, comprising nine plant extracts and five active molecules, distributed across the two phases. These include turmeric extract, a signature active ingredient of Double Serum, and biomimetic peptides, alongside skincare ingredients selected to support hydration, nutrition, protection, oxygenation and regeneration.

The formula is designed to deliver both immediate complexion results and longer-term improvements in the appearance of the skin. In consumer self-assessments, 58% of women perceived a brighter complexion after application, while 54% reported increased radiance after 28 days. A clinical test involving 30 women also demonstrated 24-hour hydration. In a consumer test of 213 women, the complexion remained flawless from morning to night over 12 hours.

Available in 37 shades designed for a wide range of skin tones and types, Double Serum Foundation brings together customisable coverage and skincare-inspired performance. Its complementary application brush, inspired by Gua Sha, is designed to support precise application and buildable coverage.

A GLOBAL INNOVATION, BROUGHT TO LIFE IN SOUTH AFRICA

To introduce Double Serum Foundation to South African consumers in a locally relevant way, Clarins partnered with contemporary South African artist Lulama Wolf, who created special-edition artwork featured on the product packaging sleeves and throughout the campaign storytelling.

The collaboration brings Lulama’s distinctive visual language into dialogue with Clarins’ skincare-infused make-up innovation, creating a fresh, locally relevant interpretation of the global campaign. By celebrating contemporary South African creative talent, Clarins connects an international beauty innovation with the local market in a way that feels authentic, distinctive and culturally relevant.

With Double Serum Foundation, Clarins continues to push the boundaries of complexion innovation, bringing together make-up performance, skincare expertise and a new approach to revealing radiance.

Ironically – considering how much of our work involves maintaining and improving reputations – PR doesn\’t always have the best rep when it comes to ethics. Some people, because of bad things that they\’ve done in the past, have even been called propagandists. But there\’s a big ethical difference between real PR and simple propaganda, and here it is: PR is always solidly rooted in fact.

Public relations professionals must wear several hats: Traditionally, PR work consisted of damage control, crafting press releases, disseminating company news and pitching journalists. Today’s PR professionals are digital multi-hyphenates who require a diverse skillset. Knowledge of SEO, influencer marketing, social media campaigns, link building and trending topics all sit on the wishlist of skills.
