Don’t Ignore a SASSA Review Notice — It Is Not a Cancellation

19 October 2026 by Guest

Dear Editor,

I run SAGrant (sagrant.co.za), a free resource helping South Africans navigate SASSA grants.

SASSA has reminded beneficiaries that a grant review is not a cancellation. A review simply checks whether a beneficiary still meets the qualifying requirements — it can be triggered by a change in income, employment, marital status, address, contact details or care arrangements for children.

The critical part: do not ignore a review notice. SASSA says beneficiaries must respond within the stipulated period and provide the requested documents. Failing to cooperate can lead to the grant being suspended — and those currently under review have a dedicated payment date of 5 November 2026, but only if they are cleared.

One practical step everyone can take today: make sure SASSA has your current cellphone number, because that is how review notices reach you.

Use only SASSA’s official channels for information, and if a payment does not arrive, call 0800 60 10 11. More plain-language help is at sagrant.co.za.

Regards

SAGrant team
