JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) wishes to congratulate the DP World Lions and ACDC Express Tuskers, who were crowned 2024/25 T20 champions in their respective divisions.

On Sunday, Lions successfully defended their T20 Challenge title against Momentum Multiply Titans at the DP World Wanderers Stadium.

Lutho Sipamla (4/12) spearheaded the attack that bundled out Titans for 119. He was well supported by Bjorn Fortuin and Kwena Maphaka, who claimed two wickets apiece.

Connor Esterhuizen (48*) and Rassie van der Dussen (44*) then made for an easy chase as Lions secured a comfortable eight-wicket win, ending the innings on 124/2.

In Division 2, Tuskers beat Eastern Storm to claim the T20 Knockout title in Division 2 in a clash that went into reserve day early this week.

This season provided a lot of entertainment, both on and off the field. Off-field, fans were treated to unforgettable in-stadium activations, including an exciting R1 Million One-Hand Catch where four lucky winners each walked away with R250,000.00. Students also claimed their share of R1 Million towards tuition fees repayment.

CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, said;

“Congratulations to the DP World Lions and the ACDC Express Tuskers on being crowned 2024 T20 Challenge and T20 Knockout winners, respectively.

“This is dubbed thee most exciting format of the game, and seeing South Africans buying back into this domestic product has been incredible watch.

“Our players have delivered on-field action across the country, and we were able to back that up with off-field action to ensure all-round entertainment for our supporters.

“We would like to thank our staff, partners, those who work directly with CSA and all affiliates who bring this competition the recognition it deserves as we continue to build domestic cricket in the country,” said Moseki.

    Some of the sports’ most loyal fans consider cricket their religion – and they have a god. His name is Sachin Tendulkar. Although there are cricketers with excellent numbers, Tendulkar’s fans may have a point. Over his 24-year long career, he has notched 34,357 runs, averaged 51.74 half-centuries in 664 international matches, and has achieved 100 centuries. This, along with his charisma, earned him the nickname, God of Cricket.
