JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has congratulated the DP World Lions and Northern Cape Heat, who were crowned champions of the 2023/24 CSA 4-Day Series in their respective divisions.

The Lions were crowned Division 1 champions after a 99-run victory in a testing five-day final against World Sports Betting Western Province at the DP World Wanderers on Sunday.

Delano Potgieter’s stellar performance, which earned him a player of the match accolade, was instrumental in the Lions success.

His unbeaten 155* not only rescued the hosts from a precarious position but also showcased his all-round talent with 81 runs and two crucial wickets in the first innings.

Meanwhile, Northern Cape Heat continued their impressive red-ball dominance, clinching the trophy for the third consecutive time in Division 2, further solidifying their reputation as a formidable force in the competition.

CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, said;

“Congratulations to the DP World Lions and Northern Cape Heat on their well-deserved victories in the 2023/24 CSA 4-Day Series. The level of cricket in the competition demonstrated the depth of talent within our domestic circuit.

“With CSA values anchored in excellence, the organisation seeks to celebrate the remarkable achievements that keep the fans entertained.

“Our continued efforts to foster the growth of cricket and nurture the talents of future Proteas also inspire countless individuals to embrace the values of teamwork, discipline, and excellence.

“We extend our gratitude to the players, affiliates, sponsors, administrators, fans, and the media for their invaluable contributions to the success of the tournament. Their collective efforts play a pivotal role in elevating the standard and competitiveness of our domestic cricket,” concluded Moseki.
