PAARL, South Africa – Cumato, a small-batch preserve maker in Paarl, has listed its full range of artisan preserves (https://cumato.co.za/preserves) for courier delivery across South Africa, in time for braai season and year-end gifting.

Two families of jars

The sun-dried tomato side of the range starts with Classic Sun-Dried Tomato and runs through garlic, chilli, basil, oregano, rosemary, smoky and olive versions, a caramelised onion tomato, a bruschetta-style spread, a pasta stir-in and a platter jar for cheese boards. Mini jars suit tasting packs and gifts, and a family jar is there for cooks who reach for it every week.

The pickle side covers classic, dill, garlic and chilli cucumber pickles, bread and butter pickles, gherkins, baby onions, beetroot, cauliflower, carrot ribbons, green tomato, jalapeño, mustard seed and mixed vegetable pickles, burger slices and a sandwich relish. Braai Side Pickles is the sharpest jar in the line, made to cut through smoke and fat next to boerewors rolls, lamb chops and pap.

“We buy tomatoes and cucumbers from local farms and keep the batches small, so we can taste every one before it goes into jars,” said Lindiwe Ndlovu, Cumato’s production manager. “Produce changes through the season, so one batch can be a touch different from the last. That’s what happens with real vegetables, and we’re happy with it.”

Orders, hampers and trade

Home cooks can order mixed jars online. For events Cumato packs gift boxes, custom hampers, small-jar favours for weddings and showers, and corporate gifts for client thank-yous. Hospitality kitchens, delis and farm stalls can set up bulk and repeat supply, retailers can ask about stocking the range, and a subscription box sends a regular selection to the door. Festive orders are best placed early, because courier routes fill up around month-end and the holidays.

Cumato delivers from Paarl to Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Gqeberha. Orders start on the Cumato website (https://cumato.co.za/).
